Today, Congressman Ted Deutch (FL-22) announced the winner of the 2022 Congressional Art Competition for Florida’s 22nd Congressional District. This competition is an annual contest sponsored by the U.S. House of Representatives in which every congressional district selects a winning piece of artwork from a local high school student.
This year’s winner is Camila Escobar, a student at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School. Her piece, titled First Steps, depicts her as a child taking her first steps with the hands of her loving grandfather for support. Her art piece will be showcased for one year in the Capitol alongside the winning pieces from congressional districts all over the United States.
