Deutch Statement to Mark Bob Levinson's 12th Year in Captivity
Saturday, March 9 marks 12 years since Bob Levinson disappeared in Iran. He is the longest held American hostage in U.S. history. In advance of this date, Congressman Ted Deutch (FL-22) issued this statement:
“For 12 years, Bob’s family and his community have prayed for his safety and pleaded for three successive Administrations to prioritize his case. Since his disappearance from Kish Island on March 9, 2007, Bob has missed 12 years as a husband, father, and grandfather. The Levinsons should not have to mark another occasion without Bob. Iran’s leaders continue to deny any assistance in locating and returning Bob to his family. More must be done to increase the pressure and prioritize Bob’s safe return. As we mark this date, I recommit myself to Bob, Christine, and the entire family to do all I can to return Bob home to his family."
