Rep. Deutch Slams Anti-Climate Resolution Passage
Congressman Ted Deutch (FL-22), co-founder and co-Chair of the bipartisan Climate Solutions Caucus, issued this statement after the U.S. House of Representatives passed House Concurrent Resolution 119, which rejects outright carbon dividend proposals as viable options to address the urgent problem of climate change:
"At a time when more and more Americans understand the urgent need for action on climate change, Congress should look at every possible option. The threats posed to our national security, our economy, our health, and our daily livelihoods are too grave not to. So it is astounding that House Republicans would pass an anti-climate resolution with outrageous and factually dubious claims that rejects outright one viable option for addressing climate change. Every Member of Congress, especially Climate Solutions Caucus members, should keep all options available and not preempt an effective strategy before we even have an opportunity to debate it."
