After President Trump cancelled the scheduled summit with North Korea, Congressman Ted Deutch (FL-22), a senior member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, issued this statement:
"President Trump’s rationale for cancelling the planned summit with North Korea makes no sense.
"The President was willing to meet with Kim Jong Un to attempt to denuclearize the Korean peninsula and reduce the threat to our allies and American troops in the region, even after exchanging several rounds of childish insults with Kim. President Trump was willing to meet with someone who had previously called the President himself 'unfit,' a 'dotard,' and a 'rogue and a gangster fond of playing with fire.'
"But today, he cancelled the summit because a low-level vice minister wasn’t nice to VP Pence and called him a 'dummy?' This is not a show of strength, and this is not an adult way to conduct foreign policy."
