Ranking Member Deutch Votes for Taylor Force Act in Committee
During a House Foreign Affairs Committee markup hearing today, Congressman Ted Deutch (FL-22), Ranking Member of the Middle East and North Africa Subcommittee, voted in favor of the updated Taylor Force Act (H.R. 1164), a bill to pressure the Palestinian Authority to cease payments to terrorists and their families. Ranking Member Deutch issued this statement following the vote:
"The Palestinian Authority's 'pay for slay' practice - where terrorists and their families are paid salaries for attacking Israelis - is beyond appalling. No U.S. taxpayer money should ever go to subsidize terrorism by putting money in the pockets of terrorists with blood on their hands. We expect the Palestinian Authority to firmly reject terrorism, cease this program that encourages attacks and killings, and commit to resuming direct negotiations with the Israelis toward a two state solution."
The Committee unanimously approved the Palestinian International Terrorism Support Prevention Act (H.R. 2712) and the Hamas Human Shields Prevention Act (H.R. 3542), legislation that the Congressman helped introduce to address Palestinian support for terrorism.
