Rep. Deutch Cosponsors Wounded Warrior Service Dog Act
Today, Congressman Ted Deutch (FL-22) joined Congressman James McGovern (MA-2) in introducing the Wounded Warrior Service Dog Act, legislation to assist service members in obtaining a service dog.
Passing the Wounded Warrior Service Dog Act would give nonprofits the necessary funding to plan, design, establish, and operate an assistance dog program for veterans. These dogs play a critical role in assisting veterans reengage in civilian life. In addition to the therapeutic benefits such as stress relief and elevated moods, these companions can assist with physical tasks such as retrieving objects, responding to calls for help, and assisting with mobility. This grant program would increase access to assistance dogs for those who need it most. The text of H.R. 2625 is available here. |
