Rep Deutch Co-Introduces National Voting Rights Day Resolution
Today, Congressman Deutch (FL-21) co-introduced House Resolution 123, which expresses Congress’s support for designating August 6 as National Voting Rights Day.
August 6th marks the 50th anniversary of the enactment of the Voting Rights Act of 1965. This landmark legislation was signed into a law by President Lyndon B. Johnson, prohibiting racial discrimination in voting. In the wake of Shelby County v. Holder, House Resolution 123 emphasizes the need to ensure that no citizens are disenfranchised.
