Rep Deutch cosponsors Longshore and Harbor Workers’ Compensation Clarification Act
Congressman Ted Deutch has signed on as a cosponsor of H.R. 436, the Longshore and Harbor Workers’ Compensation Clarification Act of 2015.
The already-existing Longshore and Harbor Workers' Compensation Act (LHWCA) provides occupational injury and disease protection to approximately 500,000 workers who are injured or contract occupational diseases in the waters of the United States. H.R. 436 makes needed clarifications to the LHWCA to ensure that employees in the recreational marine repair industry have adequate workers’ compensation coverage and that the law is implemented effectively. It defines the term “recreational vessel,” to help small business avoid unnecessary multiple insurance policies.
