Legislative Updates: 114th Congress
Rep Deutch cosponsors Women's Health Protection Act
Congressman Ted Deutch has signed on as a cosponsor of the Women’s Health Protection Act of 2015. The bill has 116 cosponsors in the U.S. House of Representatives and is supported by a companion Senate bill. This legislation supports a woman’s right to an abortion by preventing States from imposing restrictive regulations and laws on reproductive health care services.
Across the country, State legislatures continue to attempt to block reproductive rights by passing unnecessary, burdensome procedure requirements, such as mandatory waiting times and ultrasounds. This bill implements a federal law to amend the current patchwork of state and local abortion laws to protect access to reproductive health care.
