Congressman Ted Deutch (FL-21), Ranking Democrat on the House Foreign Affairs Committee's Middle East Subcommittee, posted the following message on Facebook in honor of the 13th anniversary of September 11th, 2001 and the ongoing war on terror.
"On the 13th anniversary of September 11th, 2001, I join all Americans in remembering those who perished in those horrific terrorist attacks. As we honor their memory, we also pay tribute to the first responders, emergency personnel, countless volunteers, and the brave men and women in uniform who stood up in the face of unspeakable evil to defend our country. In recent years, U.S. forces have made great strides in the war on terror. However, the United States must remain vigilant against the threats posed by extremism, intolerance, hatred, and oppression, no matter where they take root. Last night, when the President spoke of these threats during his remarks on Syria and Iraq, he rightly emphasized that this mission will not be won by U.S. military strikes alone...."
