Congressman Ted Deutch (FL-21) issued this statement in reaction to the resignation of U.S. Secretary of Veterans Affairs Eric Shinseki:

“The problems plaguing the Department of Veterans Affairs existed before Secretary Shinseki took office and his necessary resignation unfortunately will not make those problems disappear. Going forward we must do everything in our power to ensure the federal government puts the same resources, energy, and innovation into caring for our veterans that it put into sending them into war.”
