Today, Congressman Ted Deutch will recognize a talented young artist in Florida's 21st district as the winner of the 2014 congressional art competition. "An Artistic Discovery" is an annual, nationwide contest sponsored by the House of Representatives in which every congressional district selects an outstanding piece of artwork from a high school student. The winner of this prestigious award will have his or her work of art displayed for the next year in the U.S. Capitol's Cannon Tunnel. The student will also receive two free plane tickets to Washington, DC in June 2014 for special events held in honor of Artistic Discovery winners from across America.
Congressman Deutch will announce this year's winner at a reception today at the Baker Sponder Gallery in Boca Raton. On display during the reception will be the winning artwork as well as all entries submitted by local students as part of this year's competition.
