Legislative Updates: 113th Congress
Rep. Deutch Cosponsors the United States Coast Guard Commemorative Coin Act
Congressman Ted Deutch (FL-21) signed on as an original cosponsor of H.R. 2932, the United States Coast Guard Commemorative Coin Act.
This bill would allow the Secretary of the Treasury to mint $5 gold coins, $1 silver coins, and half dollar clad coins in honor of the U.S. Coast Guard’s military service. These coins will be imprinted with motifs that honor the United States Coast Guard and recognize their efforts in times of war and peace. With an estimated 42,300 men and women in active duty, the United States Coast Guard serves the nation in such essential areas as homeland security, law enforcement, search and rescue missions, marine environmental pollution response, and maintenance of waterways. The surcharges for the coins would be contributed to the National Coast Guard Museum Foundation for the purpose of building a National Coast Guard Museum. This is a small gesture compared to the incredible sacrifice of the Coast Guard to protect the shores of the United States. To read more about H.R. 2932, click here. |
