Legislative Updates: 113th Congress
Rep. Deutch Cosponsors H.R. 2794, Ordering the Creation of a POW/MIA Forever Stamp
Congressman Ted Deutch (FL-21) has cosponsored H.R. 2794, which will order the creation of a Forever Stamp in honor of members of our Armed Forces who are still imprisoned or missing.
It is tragic when an American soldier is held prisoner by enemy forces. According to the Department of Defense, since World War II there are more than 80,000 servicemembers that are still missing. The flag honoring Prisoners of War (POW) and those Missing in Action (MIA) has become a major symbol in our country, bringing attention to those who have yet to return home. Americans are indebted to their service and dedication, and must keep their memory alive. This bill will create a Forever Stamp to honor POW/MIA servicemembers. The Forever Stamp status means that it will be sufficient for first-class mail up to one ounce in weight, and will continue to be valid regardless of if the postage rate increases.
