Legislative Updates: 113th Congress
Rep. Deutch Cosponsors the Pregnant Workers Fairness Act
Congressman Deutch (FL-21) has signed on as an original cosponsor of H.R. 1975, the Pregnant Workers Fairness Act.
No female employee should be discriminated against based on a pregnancy, childbirth, or related medical condition. This legislation requires employees to make reasonable accommodations for pregnant workers. It also outlaws the denial of employment opportunities to women that request reasonable accommodations related to pregnancy, childbirth, or related medical conditions. Pregnant workers must be able to support their families while also tending to their health and the special needs of their pregnancy. H.R.1975 will punish forms of discrimination by employers on these bases while promoting women’s health and economic stability of American families. To read more about H.R. 1975, click here. |
