Legislative Updates: 113th Congress
Rep. Deutch Cosponsors the Air Traffic Control Tower Funding Restoration Act
Congressman Deutch (FL-21) has cosponsored H.R. 1432, the Air Traffic Control Tower Funding Restoration Act.
As a result of the recent sequester, the Federal Aviation Administration was planning on shutting down around 150 air traffic control towers due to insufficient funds. H.R. 1432 ends air traffic controller furloughs and provides enough funds to keep the towers open. The legislation shifts funding from accounts within the FAA that are currently not being used in order to keep the air traffic controllers working. Air traffic control towers are vital to maintain a safe and efficient aviation system. There are communities that are dependent upon these airports for jobs and transportation, and this bill will support their wishes to keep these towers open. In addition to helping airports around the country, H.R. 1432 would prevent four towers from closing in Florida. To read more about H.R. 1432, click here. |
