Legislative Updates: 113th Congress
Rep. Deutch Cosponsors the Arbitration Fairness Act
Congressman Ted Deutch (FL-21) has signed on as an original cosponsor of H.R. 1844, the Arbitration Fairness Act.
The Arbitration Fairness Act would amend the Federal Arbitration Act to reestablish the consumer’s rights in pursuing justice through the courts. H.R. 1844 would remove the forced arbitration clauses in employment, consumer, and civil rights cases, and restore a consumer’s right to decide to seek arbitration over a dispute. It is important that workers and consumers are not restricted by mandatory arbitration, but instead are ensured their right to take their issue to court if they so choose.
