Congressman Ted Deutch (FL-21) has signed on as an original cosponsor of H.R. 2028, the Every Child Deserves a Family Act.

The legislation limits federal funding for adoption agencies that discriminate against single parents or same-sex couples looking to provide a home for a foster child. The bill also eliminates barriers blocking the adoption of LGBT children. State agencies that continue discriminatory practices, besides being an ineffective and unreasonable policy, will receive limited federal funding.

This legislation would end discriminatory adoption practices, alleviate the strain on the foster care system, and potentially place thousands of children in loving, stable homes.
