Rep. Deutch Cosponsors the Tax Crimes and Identity Theft Prevention Act
Congressman Ted Deutch (FL-21) has cosponsored H.R. 531, the Tax Crimes and Identity Theft Prevention Act.
Tax refund fraud and identity theft are major issues that face too many Americans. Every year thousands of Americans are subjected to billions of losses to their personal financial security due to these imposing threats. It is predicted that over the next five years more than $21 billion could be issued in fraudulent tax refunds. H.R. 531 will help crack down on this threat by requiring the IRS and Treasury Department to improve and create new tax fraud prevention programs to punish and deter tax crimes. Furthermore, this bill will help speed up the return to Americans of tax returns that may have been compromised. These measures will help ensure further safety against fraud and identity theft for Americans across the country. To read more about H.R. 531, click here. |
