Legislative Updates: 113th Congress
Rep. Deutch Cosponsors the National Park Service 100th Anniversary Commemorative Coin Act of 2013
Congressman Ted Deutch (FL-21) has cosponsored H.R. 627, the National Park Service 100th Anniversary Commemorative Coin Act.
In 1916, Congress established the National Park Service Organic Act; 2016 will mark the National Park Service’s 100th Anniversary. What started as a governmental organization owning 6 million acres of land across the country has transformed into an 84 million acre system with over 395 units. To celebrate this occasion, this bipartisan bill will authorize the minting of a commemorative coin series including a five dollar coin, a silver dollar coin, and a clad half dollar. Furthermore, this bill will need no increase in taxes to be funded, but is expected to make a profit. Any profits will go to the National Park Foundation to ensure further protection and preservation of national parks across the country. To read more about H.R. 627, click here. |
