Legislative Updates: 113th Congress
Rep. Deutch Cosponsors H.R. 164, allowing veterans with 'total' service related disabilities to utilize Space A travel
Congressman Ted Deutch (FL-21) has cosponsored H.R. 164, allowing veterans with service related disabilities rated as 'total' to utilize Space A travel.
This bill would allow veterans with “total” rated service related disabilities to travel on Department of Defense (DoD) aircrafts with no cost, when space is available. These veterans have made enormous personal sacrifices to defend our nation and as a result deserve the ability to participate in Space – A travel. This program currently permits service members in active duty and certain others to take vacant seats on DoD flights. H.R. 164 will not restrict active duty members and their families from benefiting from the program, but rather will expand to include those veterans with permanent disabilities from their service. Furthermore, this bill has no expected costs. To read more about H.R. 164, click here. |
