Legislative Updates: 112th Congress
Deutch Cosponsors Legislation Repealing Burdensome Healthcare Reporting Requirements
Congressman Ted Deutch has signed on as a cosponsor of H.R. 584, which repeals the information reporting requirements added by the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. Signed into law in 2010, PPACA added a requirement that all companies, including small businesses, report any payments of $600 or more to the IRS. This requirement poses a threat of high administrative costs on companies, especially small business, which are likely to suffer disproportionately more. Furthermore, this requirement may overload the IRS with information as well as distort the economy by ecnouraging consumers to make all their purchases from certain vendors. HR. 584 repeals the requirement to eliminate this unnecessary burden on small businesses.
