Legislative Updates: 112th Congress
Deutch Cosponsors the National Infrastructure Development Bank Act of 2011
Congressman Ted Deutch has cosponsored H.R. 402, the the National Infrastructure Development Bank Act of 2011, to jump start job growth by reforming how job-creating infrastructure projects are funded in America. The bill will streamline the issuance of public bonds and financing for infrastructure projects such as energy upgrades, telecommunications installations, transportation infrastructure, and other projects. Supported by the the Alliance for American Manufacturing and the Chamber of Commerce, a national infrastructure bank would leverage private sector dollars in support of major infrastructure upgrades. H.R. 402 would create a government-owned corporation modeled after the European Investment Bank, with independent leaders charged with evaluating the economic impact of proposed projects rather than politicians in Congress seeking special earmarks during the appropriations process.
